Apple Samsung Patent Fights, Apple walked away with $1.05 billion damage

Apple won big on the recent big patent lawsuit when the court ordered Samsung to pay $1.05b damages to Apple... I am quite surprise the court gave the verdict within a week, i supposed it will be drag and a long lawsuits.... Apple share price has up up up and reaching the moon soon, Samsung down by close to 7% when the court judgement released to the public. But is that a really good news to Apple? Is Samsung really violate Apple's registered patents?

Below are the 6 patents that jury says Samsung violated:
1. Utility Patent 163: Enlarging documents by tapping the screen
2. Utility Patent 381: 'Bounce-back' feature when scrolling beyond the edge of 3. Utility Patent 915: Distinguishes between single-touch and multi-touch gestures. An example of this would be pinch to zoom
4. Design Patent 087: Ornamental design of the iPhone (white color)
5. Design Patent 677: Ornamental design of the iPhone (black color)
6. Design Patent 305: Rounded square icons on interface
If the violation is correct and true, there should be more than one company being fined or penalties for the reason of patent violation. But why Apple only find trouble with Samsung? I believe Apple start worry and aware of the rises of Samsung and Apple competitive advantage is diminishing as Android is getting better and better.

My first Apple product is ipod which i found that is really awesome, the centre controlled touch pad is really amazing and convenient, the whole concept was  stylish. First Apple phone is ......

Samsung is Leading the Smartphone Market Now

Samsung has a wonderful monster amazing crazy Q2 results on its Galaxy phone. Samsung sold about 50.5m handset in Q2 alone, surpasses apple near to 2 times of 26m. This so far the only quarter that someone has surpassed iphone in smartphone selling in the recent year.

2012 Q2 Smartphone sales
Is it true that Samsung has finally lead the market? does it means apple has lost its edge against samsung? or simply the world is just waiting for the iPhone5?

I believe the competitive advantage created by Steve Job has getting weaker and Apple really need to look at it before it is too late....

Confusion of life

Do you ever ask yourself a question, why you are what you are now? Why you are on where you are now? Why you are not A, why you are not B, not C or even D that leading rich and colourful life.

This is probably the toughest question that i ever had in my life and probably human being ever facing, and I'm still looking for the an answer. Is that what Buddhism always mentioned 'karma'? Or what Christian believe on the mighty god's plan? I preferred on karma, as you do good deed will return in good deed and vice versa.

Probably this makes the life more beautiful and unpredictable. If everyone in this world having the same thing and doing the same thing everyday, I thinks this world will be quite boring....

Well, Will the recent found god particle ever give us a perfect answer for this?

Hey God particle if you ever heard my voice, can you grant me 3 wishes?
First I want to get rid of my loan.
Second I will work hard to earn more money.
Third I want to have a better communication with my mom, I lost my dad from cancer I don't want to lose my mom.

Macau and Casino

I recalled that end of December last year, lots of data released and indicators showed that 2012 will be a bad bad year. Loss job, slow down in China GDP growth and Euro crisis gonna hit the economic badly....

Surprisingly, Macau the only legal gaming city in China, has released very promising financial results and analysts have predicted 14% growth for full 2012 full yaer revenue. But, Macau is beating the expectation. Official results announced that Macau combined revenue for first 2 months of 2012 up by 28% year to year comparison, far higher than 14% as expected, but this may be due to the high revenue on the peak season on Feb 2012.

Quick glance of the Casino gaming revenue for the past 2 year...

2010 2011 2012
in US$ in US$ in US$
Macau 23.5b 33.5b 38.2b
Singapore  3.93b 6.4b 7.2b
Las Vegas 5.8b 6.2b na

Most of the Las Vegas Casino operators moved their focus to Macau and Singapore, trying to fight for the big pie from the economic boom of Asia countries, casino tycoon Sheldon Andelson and his $4.4b Casino resort in Macau after launched his successful Marina Bay Sands in Singapore 2 years ago.

Macau has a total 33 casinos operates in this small tiny island and it took over the helm from Las Vegas in 2006 as the top casino in the world..

Money money money, i want all your money money money....LOL

Everyone was expecting a huge slump for China's gambling hotspot Macau this year.

Guess what? It hasn't happened.

Recent figures (and also Evan Osnos's great recent New Yorker article) suggest that, for all its faults, Macau is still destroying Las Vegas in every area that matters.

Gaming revenue rose 42% in 2011.

Draw Something

It is reported that Zynga is buying DRAW SOMETHING from OMGPOP for $180-$210million, do you think that is expensive??

Do you know what is Draw Something, draw something is:
- hottest game recently that allow the players to draw something and send it to friends to guess what you drawing, i have been playing this for sometimes
- surprisingly, this is a 6 weeks old app/game that launched in Apple App store
- Top app downloaded in 79 countries
- It has been downloaded 35+ million times
- It has 12+ million daily users
- Generates $250k of revenue per day

What can you do with $210m? You can easily start a new business, trading, financial services, investment company and so on. If you want to do something bigger, maybe you can invest in some resources company in Asia or Australia; gold, coal, timber, tantalum and etc now they  are hot enough and they will bring you some good returns. Or be a lazy man, keep the money in the bank and earn interest... you may earn a million per year..

If Draw Something business model is sustainable and with $250k per day, that is about $91,250,000 per year. With 210m consideration, that is only 2X of revenue, i think this is quite cheap....

But I always have doubt in the business model for Application or game company, although they have massive revenue now, my question is how long can this sustain? but at the mean time, draw something is really happening!!!! time will prove....

China Property Market SLOW DOWNing

According to the recent annual results announcement from China Vanke (http://www.vanke.com/), there is a sign that China property start to going down and slowing down...

Possibly a slower year ahead for China GDP growth....... no wonder since last year Capital Land from Singapore has moved its direction from developing high end private property in China switch to more affordable mid-tier housing....

When you fly to fast, you just need to slow down sometimes....

Instagram

This month instagram has active users of 27 million...... It possibly poses biggest threat to Facebook now.

Although google+ has millions of users but I simply write them off. the increasing number of users are due to the auto linkage function in gmail. They possibly reach 100 million users earlier than Facebook but the active users and time spent per users are far below than any of the remaining social networking have.

Instagram one to remember now....

Can you remember three ads you saw today? Probably not.

Despite millions of dollars spent on advertising campaigns, most ads are not memorable.

Every once in a while, some creative at some ad agency does something truly brilliant, and we have to stop and marvel.

We racked our brains and scoured the internet to find photos of brilliant marketing campaigns that literally stopped people in their tracks.

For more campaigns, check out Inc.com, Joe's AdBlog, and Ad Design Blog, which pointed us to many of these campaigns.

The countries where Facebook is not the King of social network

Facebook a very very amazing term in the social network rite now... 800million users, $100b valuation, about $4b sales and possible IPO in 2012.... there are lots of more interesting stories about facebook, i need sometimes to summarise it and put it up here....

Mark Zuckenberg, same age with me, now he is one of the most fucking richest guy in the world... simply amazing what he did... but simply disappointed with what i have now, totally failure....!!!!

Sean Parker, just work for Facebook for short period of time, and now he is worth close to $4b if IPO proceed in 2012....

But there are still some place in this world that FB is yet to conquer, not sure when FB is going to overtake them... but for sure, China is not the region that they can conquer, unless they open it.....

Here you go, this is wat i copied from Business insider...

In Brazil, Orkut is still king ... for now. Facebook is closing the gap.

In Japan, Twitter has many more users, but time spent on Facebook is bigger

Facebook is about to be the biggest social network in Poland, but it's not there yet

It doesn't look like Facebook is going to win Russia over any time soon

It's neck and neck in South Korea

Facebook is losing in Vietnam, too. comScore just started measuring Vietnam, so it doesn't have trend data available. Weirdly enough, Zuckerberg just spent Christmas in Vietnam.

Daniel Goodman / Business Insider

And here's a look at Facebook's rise through the years

How much will a public facebook be worth?

How Much Will A Public Facebook Be Worth?
Around $100 billion seems to be the going estimate, with the initial public float being around $10 billion. But really, this won't be finalized until the size of the stake sold and share price are finalized.

How Much Will Mark Zuckerberg Be Worth?

Assuming a valuation of $100 billion, Mark Zuckerberg would make $24 billion from an IPO.

Other estimates:
Dustin Moskovitz - $6 billion
Eduardo Saverin - $6 billion
Sean Parker - $4 billion
Peter Thiel - $3 billion
One wildcard: Sheryl Sandberg, who joined Facebook in 2008. She is understood to have a small ownership stake but its size is unclear.

How Much Is Facebook Making Now?
As reported earlier this month, Facebook is not blowing away the numbers that leaked early in the year.

Through the first three quarters of 2011, it brought in $2.5 in revenue.

That's impressive but slightly behind the pace of the $4 billion annually that was expected. It will take a big fourth quarter for Facebook to reach their target.

EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest Taxes Depreciation and Amortization) weren't leaked, but other metrics of profitability were. Cash flow and operating income through three quarters were $1 billion and $1.2 billion, respectively. Again, this is impressive results but indicates that Facebook may miss its $2 billion annual EBITDA target.

And rumor said that IPO could make another 1,000 millionaires.... sigh!!!!
